A journalist needing a career boost agrees to write a biography of a tyrannical, dying sports hero. Cobb's unpleasant reputation proves to be true, but the reporter discovers the baseball players human side as well.
Cobb
Famous sports writer Al Stump is thrilled, at first, when he is personally chosen by baseball legend Ty Cobb to write his official, authorized "autobiography." Cobb says he wants to set the record straight, but Stump soon learns that Cobb's reputation is deserved. The man is corrosively racist, violent, angry, misogynistic and abusive. Stump is torn. Should he write the whitewashed book that Cobb wants, a simple tale of a baseball great, or should he write the truth about Cobb's tortured and tortuous life? He finally realizes he doesn't have to choose. He writes both books – one for Cobb, and one for the public.
