The City of Violence
2005, a small town in southern Korea, Onsung.
Taesoo, a detective from Seoul, returns home after almost a decade upon hearing about the death of his friend, Wangjae. He encounters his close friends from his teen years, Pilho, Seokhwan, and Donghwan, at the funeral. Questioning his close friend Wangjae’s death, which was allegedly the result of a quarrel with a couple of teenagers, Taesoo extends his stay in his hometown and starts to investigate the whereabouts by himself.
Looking for clues in a now unfamiliar town, Taesoo receives a rough welcome from some unknown town hooligans. In a critical situation, reckless Seokhwan shows up to save Taesoo. Upon this incident, Seokhwan and Taesoo form a close bond to avenge Wangjae’s death.
