Sanctuary

Set in 1920s Mississippi, SANCTUARY tells the story of young and privileged Temple Drake who, after being raped by Cajun bootlegger Candy, falls in love and runs away with him to New Orleans. The couple lives happily until Temple get news that Candy has died in a car crash. She returns home, marries her college sweetheart and starts a family. All is well until Candy, very much alive, returns to Mississippi and tempts Temple to abandon her new life.
