Two brothers. One mountain. Their fate. Already in their childhood, the two brothers Reinhold and Guenther Messner are planning to one day climb the more than 8000 meters high Nanga Parbat in the Himalaya. In 1970 they set out to realize their dream and join a multinational team of highly reputed mountaineers, conducted by Dr. Karl Maria Herrligkoffer. Their route will lead them across the legendary Rupal, the world’s steepest rock face. Despite of a bad weather alert, Reinhold decides to continue his ascent on his own. His younger and lesser experienced brother joins him but experiences serious health problems which result in a dramatic fight for survival.
