God's Mighty Servant
Munich, 1918: The nun Pascalina is the housekeeper of Pacelli, the new nuncio. As an indispensable helper, she accompanies him on his way via Berlin to the Vatican. Elected pope in March 1939, Pacelli calls himself Pius XII from now on. Soon Pascalina takes on charitable tasks and learns about the German extermination camps in Eastern Europe, but Pius XII shies away from clear words. To save the Roman Jews from deportation, however, Pius XII grants them church asylum until American troops finally take the Eternal City. Shortly before his death, however, Pius XII dictates to Pascalina his request for forgiveness of his errors and sins.
