Widower Georg Weiser is summoned by his two children to a family gathering in Crete, where things quickly go awry. As Georg embarks on his journey through Greece, engrossed in the musings of both ancient and contemporary philosophers, he receives a call from his children, Susanne and Gerd. They wish to commemorate their mother's death anniversary with him in Crete.
