What are Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo doing at a police station on Christmas Eve? Caught by the police while trying to scale the side of a building wearing Santa Claus suits, they are arrested and questioned by a female police inspector to prove their innocence. A Christmas family film filled with surreal humour. Angela Finocchiaro's performance and the original score by Mina are memorable.
La banda dei Babbi Natale
“Why don’t you tell me why you were climbing on that f***ing wall, and we can all go home?” On Christmas Eve in Milan, three men wearing Santa Claus suits are arrested by the police while trying to scale the side of a building. The three friends, a bigamist veterinarian, a disconsolate widower and an untrustworthy kept man, accused of being a band of thieves, are taken to police headquarters where they are hastily interrogated by an inspector, played by Angela Finocchiaro, whose only desire is to spend Christmas with her family. The three, mistaken for burglars, try to prove their innocence telling their story, and we see the action play out through flashbacks. At the end, after a number of surreal misadventures and funny gags, everything goes well: the burglars are caught by the police, bigamist Giovanni leaves his two wives for the police inspector, widower Giacomo finally reciprocates the feelings of a co-worker, and untrustworthy Aldo gets a job. Last but not least, the three bocce team pals win the coveted Cup.
