Inspector Lau Ching Hei asks his best friend, Yau Kin Bong, to find of the murderer of his father-in-law, Chow Yuen Sing. As soon as Yau Kin Bong starts investigating, he realizes the crime has been perfectly executed with every detail meticulously orchestrated and both suspects mysteriously eliminated. As Yau Kin Bong digs deeper, he seems to have unraveled the most unlikely truth.

On the Christmas Eve 2003, Detective Yau Kin Bong arrests a serial rapist. But when he comes home next morning, he finds his girlfriend has killed herself. He quits the force and becomes a private eye and an alcoholic.

As he digs deeper all the clues point to Chau Yuen Sing’s daughter and Lau Ching Hei’s hysterical wife, Susan Chow. Susan Chow however gets severely injured in a suspicious gas explosion while Yau Kin Bong seems to have unraveled the most unlikely truth.
