The Dragon Fighter is rebellious and gets into a wager with the other deities in Heaven whereupon he will descend into the mortal world as the Mad Monk in an attempt to alter the fates of three seemingly irredeemable people, a shameless prostitute, a helpless beggar and a cold-blooded killer.
Director Johnnie To and Stephen Chow team up once again in this comedy that evokes pathos and laughter from the audience. The Dragon Fighter is rebellious and constantly defies the other deities in Heaven. He gets into a wager with them whereupon he will descend into the mortal world as the Mad Monk in an attempt to alter the fates of three seemingly irredeemable people, a shameless prostitute, a helpless beggar and a cold-blooded killer. With his empathy and his wits, the Mad Monk comes close to save the three bad people but falls short. Although he seems to have lost the wager, his empathy, passion and love for the mortal beings have won him the respect from all the deities. He is consequently promoted to the Supreme Dragon Fighter.
