Julián is a widowed father whose life takes an unexpected turn when a minor crime gets him arrested and deported back to Mexico. His daughter, nine-year-old Sofia, has a terminal heart condition and is scheduled for a heart transplant in two weeks. She is left in the care of her irresponsible uncle, Nick. Faced with the odds of never seeing his daughter alive again, Julián struggles to get back to her in any way possible.
