Maria is a senior lady who decides to reopen her business, the Mama Cake bakery that sells cakes and pastries with a "special" touch. It turns out to be a huge success. However, selling these products and trying to hide her secret ingredient from her grandson cause a lot of problems with her sister-in-law, who wants to keep her house; the local drug dealer Hans, and the police.

Maria, a lady who has just been widowed, is about to lose her house and move into a nursing home. Suddenly, a grandson she had never met shows up. His name is Poncho and he is at risk of going to a orphanage if no family member takes care of him. Maria agrees to take custody of the young boy. To solve her financial problems, she decides to reopen her business, the Mama Cake bakery.
