It follows the downward spiralling of this young man, whose once-bright future is threatened by this unforgiving mental illness. Son of Mine is also the story of Jacob's mother, Marielle, and her relentless efforts to help her son despite all obstacles.

SON OF MINE tells the story of the downward spiral of Jacob, a young 18-year-old student whose behavior has become stranger and stranger… until the worst anticipated diagnosis is made: schizophrenia. As for his mother, Marielle - played by the very talented Élise Guilbault-, she continues to make every effort to help her son. Strong and intelligent, she will use all available external and internal resources. Marielle will never give up. She will fight! Against all: the inevitability, the prejudices, the lack of resources and support, the inconsistencies of the health care system, the progressive rejection and the lack of understanding of people surrounding her.
