Two very different friends – one small, one tall – enjoy spending time together, until their worlds begin to clash. What starts with joy turns to sadness, as differences seem impossible to overcome. In his 8-minute short Friends, Florian Grolig uses minimalist animation to tell a touching, funny, and inventive story about friendship, conflict, and hope.

Friends

One is very small, the other very tall. Still, they are friends and enjoy spending time together. But when the tall one begins causing more and more damage in the small one’s world, both realize that their worlds are difficult to reconcile. A realization that makes them both very sad. Yet perhaps one should never give up hope entirely. Sometimes, after all, differences can lead to things turning out in completely unexpected ways.

In his nearly 8-minute animated short Friends, filmmaker Florian Grolig tells the story of these two very different companions through an artfully minimalist animation style. The complications that arise from their connection are presented in short, entertaining sequences that are sometimes funny, sometimes touching, and always full of surprising twists.

Friends does not need dialogue. In this charming and inventive short film, the emotions and messages communicate themselves entirely on their own.
