Wladyslaw Szpilman, a brilliant Polish pianist of Jewish descent, lives with his family in the Warsaw Ghetto. In 1939, when the Germans invade Poland, he manages to avoid being deported thanks to the help of some friends. But he has to live in hiding - and completely isolated - for a long time. In order to survive, he will have to face constant dangers.
