The Square

Christian is the respected curator of a contemporary art museum in Stockholm. He is a divorced but devoted father of two who drives an electric car and supports good causes. His next show is “The Square”, an installation which challenges passersby on their capacity for altruism, reminding them of their responsibility to their fellow human beings. Sometimes, however, it is difficult to live up to your own ideals. Christian’s hasty response to the theft of his phone drags him down a path that is fraught with moral contradictions. Meanwhile, the museum’s PR agency has created an unexpected campaign for “The Square”, the public’s response to which sends Christian, as well as the museum, spiraling into an existential crisis.
