Dreaming Whilst Black is a 6-part comedy-drama based on the award-winning web series of the same name. Loosely inspired by real events, it tells the story of Kwabena, a Black British 28-year-old in London who quits his dead-end recruitment job to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker. However, he quickly faces the hardships of his decision to try and balance financial security, love life, family pressures, and his sense of reality while trying to navigate his way through an impermeable industry. Despite these adversities, Kwabena remains determined to chase his dreams. This half-hour series centers on themes of prejudice, exploitation, and the individual versus society, using cringe comedy to explore these issues through the eyes of a Black creative.
