Francis: Pray for Me
This Spanish-language biographical drama charts the early life of Jorge Mario Bergoglio (Darío Grandinetti) all the way to his ascension as head of the Catholic Church as Pope Francis. The long, arduous and emotional journey of a Jesuit that would become archbishop of Buenos Aires is what motivated a young Spanish journalist Ana (Silvia Abascal) to understand after meeting Bergoglio in 2005. Through the eyes of Ana, Bergoglio’s story is told, from the complicated years of Argentina’s Dirty War, to his tireless work in marginalized communities beset by crime, and his fight against corruption and unbridled capitalism.
