Los Angeles real estate agent Sandra Dunmore isn’t the successful, church-going model wife she seems to be. She’s obsessed with The Sound of Music, boasts a top-of-the-line wardrobe, and is having an illicit affair. When her husband, Jake, finds solace in the bottle after a career crisis, Sandra finds her own solace in an affair with Jake’s arrogant brother, Ben. When Ben's attentions turn towards another woman, Peggy Blaine, Sandra becomes the woman scorned. Looking for revenge she alerts Jake, knowing this will send him into a fury. The retribution Sandra hoped for goes farther than she anticipated as the fight between the two brothers results in Ben falling from a window to his death. When the hefty inheritance left by Ben adds to the mix, burnt-out police detective Rita Pompano senses there is more to this accident than meets the eye.
