Fun Fact: Eli Manning’s undercover appearance at Penn State on Eli’s Places (ESPN) in 2022 inspired the character. Manning created the Chad Powers persona, while Powell plays the fictional Russ / Chad characters created for the show.

Russ was once a promising college quarterback, but a major mistake brought his career to an abrupt end. Eight years later, he disguises himself as the eccentric Chad Powers to earn another shot at pro-ball through a walk-on tryout for the struggling South Georgia Catfish.

The plan gives Russ another chance to play, but Chad soon becomes more important to the team than expected. Every new success makes the disguise harder to maintain and raises the risk that someone will uncover Russ’s identity.
