Classic Christmas Movies That Make The Season Bright

A black-and-white courtroom drama and a technicolor musical adventure give these vintage favorites their signature charm.

The holiday season is in full swing when an older gentleman is hired as a department store Santa Claus. He claims his name is Kris Kringle, and soon fills everyone with Christmas spirit - except his boss, Doris Walker. When Kris is put on trial, everyone's faith is put to the test as old and young alike face the age old question: Do you believe in Santa Claus?

You can also revisit the story in the 1994 adaptation.

Even nursery-rhyme characters can’t catch a holiday break. Barnaby has his eye on Mary Contrary’s inheritance, and her wedding to Tom Piper is inconveniently standing in the way. He has Tom kidnapped, while his henchmen steal the sheep supporting Mary and the children in her care.

Once Tom returns, the search for the missing flock takes them through the Forest of No Return to Toyland. The Toymaker is busy preparing for Christmas, but Barnaby hasn’t finished meddling.
