What is Deli Boys Season 2 about?

Raj and Mir have pulled off their biggest drug deal yet. But what good is a mountain of cash if they can’t spend it? As they navigate through a world they don’t understand, the brothers must find someone who can help them launder their money. Enter Max Sugar (Fred Armisen), a ruthless casino owner, who also catches Lucky’s eye. The stakes keep getting higher and the brothers must prove they belong in the criminal underworld, even if that means faking it ‘til they make it. Behind the laughs, the season explores wealth, status, and their links to cultural identity.

What happened last season?

The season ends in a shaadi, a multi-day South Asian wedding celebration where Mir was set to marry Bushra. Things quickly go off the rails when the brothers hatch a scheme to use the festivities as a cover for a massive drug deal. When Bushra discovers the truth, she leaves. In order to ensure the celebrations continue, Raj steps up to marry Nandika, also sealing a drug distribution deal with her restaurateur family. The brothers are flying high after a successful operation. That’s until their deli is blown up by an unknown assailant. Raj is determined to get revenge on Ahmand Uncle after new information about Baba Dar’s death is unearthed.

The half-hour series was created by Abdullah Saeed and developed by Jenni Konner and Nora Silver under Jenni Konner Productions. Raj, the eldest Dar brother, considers himself a spiritual being. Though some would simply just call him a pothead. Reluctant to take over the family business, he often wishes he can return to the blissful ignorance of how his cushy lifestyle was funded. Shaikh is also known for playing Amir Khan in Ms. Marvel and The Marvels.

Asif Ali as Mir

Mir, the youngest Dar brother, is a straight-laced business school graduate who believes even criminal enterprises should follow rules and order. Anxious by nature, he isn’t exactly a natural in high-stake situations and covert operations. Ali is known for his roles in the Marvel Universe, appearing in WandaVision and Agatha All Along. His comedic credits include the 2022 movie Bromates (Hulu).

Poorna Jagannathan as Lucky

After Baba’s death, Lucky takes it upon herself to guide the brothers in their career as drug kingpins. A ruthless enforcer with glamorous flair, she plays the maternal nurturer to Raj and Mir. Jagannathan has appeared on Big Little Lies and the comedy show Ramy (Hulu).

Fred Armisen as Max

A casino owner with a shady past, Max offers the Dar brothers a helping hand and a taste of the good life. Armisen is a well-established figure in comedic acting and writing. A beloved Saturday Night Live comedy legend, he created and starred in the sketch show Portlandia. He has also worked as a voice actor, including on Fox’s animated comedy show Universal Basic Guys (Hulu).
