Marvel Rivals Executive Producer Danny Koo Talks About Daredevil’s New Limited-Time Exclusive In-Game Costume

Ever wondered what Daredevil (Matt Murdock) would look like if the streets of NYC were swapped for the mythical city of K’un-Lun? Marvel Rivals’ executive producer Danny Koo has the answer: a striking, teal suit that glows like dragon fire. Starting October 10, Marvel Rivals players who are signed up for Disney+ will have a 90-day early-access window (through January 8, 2026) to grab the costume first for FREE*, through the Disney+ Perks program.**

This is our first Disney+ Perk for the Marvel Rivals game. Why is this collaboration exciting for fans?

Danny Koo: Marvel Rivals fans have always asked us to make costumes inspired by content from Disney+, but this is the first original creation of colors with the Disney+ Perks team. We are excited about offering this to fans.

Daredevil’s base costume in Marvel Rivals differs from his usual sleek TV look — was it inspired by any specific comic runs?

Danny Koo: He’s a little bit inspired by the Shadowland run, where he was the ruler of a Japanese-style castle. In Marvel Rivals, he’s not the ruler, he’s the protector of the ancient city of K’un-Lun. In the TV series he’s mostly based in street-level New York, fighting crimes. In this game, he’s atoning for his sins by protecting the souls of sinners and his look has mythical K’un-Lun energy to it. In this season’s trailer, his eyes are lit up almost like a dragon.

Speaking of Daredevil’s in-game debut, why did the team feel like now was the right time to bring him in?

Danny Koo: Fans have been excited to play as Daredevil since the inception of this game, and now we’re putting Daredevil in the player's hands. There’s a mention of the mythical world of K’un-Lun starting in season one and Daredevil is also in the comics in an issue where he has close ties to K’un-Lun. The lore of K’un-Lun is all about angels and demons so it’s special to bring in Daredevil himself, with his devil look. And we have Angela in the same season, which is the angel side of things. It provides a very good theme to explore this season.

What goes into creating a costume like this, from an idea to a playable character and suit in the game?

Danny Koo: For this suit, we worked with the Disney+ Perks team on color options, and because there are a few colors in the range, it could be anything. You could have multiple hues of blue and green in a look. However, you need to make sure the character in that color doesn’t blend into K’un-Lun, which has a lot of greens as well.

What is the most rewarding part of bringing this costume to life and preparing to share it with fans?

Danny Koo: The most rewarding part is that there are cool collaborations that can be done, especially with the Disney+ Perks team. This is just the beginning! Marking the start of a great partnership is always exciting and the most rewarding part of this job.

What do you hope fans feel when they play Daredevil in this look?

Danny Koo: Everybody is used to Daredevil being red, so this is something new and exciting. This color is very striking because it’s different from your traditional Marvel heroes — it’s somewhere between blue and green. It has a jade quality to it, which is a very precious material in K’un-Lun culture.

Beyond the gaming world, what are your favorite things to stream on Disney+?

Danny Koo: I like to binge TV series and movies. Disney+ is a great place to catch up on everything. I also gravitate to Korean dramas. You know, I might also watch horror, like Marvel Animation’s Marvel Zombies on Disney+, and see our Super Heroes in a whole different light. So sometimes streaming on Disney+ helps me explore themes for games, too.

Limitations and Restrictions

4.1 The Codes are only available for the users who have a Disney+subscription and are enrolled in the Disney+ Perks Program.

4.2 The Codes are valid only for use by You and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotions or discounts unless expressly stated.

4.3 Marvel Rivals reserves the right to deny redemption if any fraudulent activity is suspected or Your Disney+ Perk membership is cancelled.

Limitation of Liability

5.1 Marvel Rivals shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Codes.

5.2 Your sole remedy for any dissatisfaction with the Codes is to stop using it.
