Who is behind The Ninth Jedi?

Production I.G, the acclaimed anime studio behind Ghost in the Shell, brings this new chapter of Kara’s story to the screen, in collaboration with Lucasfilm. Shunsuke Tada directs The Ninth Jedi, Mitsuyasu Sakai writes the series, and Kenji Kamiyama serves as supervising director.

The producing team includes James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Justin Leach, Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, Hitoshi Ito, Kanako Shirasaki, and Caroline Keller.

Kara isn’t making this journey alone. Meet the new and returning characters joining the adventure, along with the actors voicing them in the English dub and original Japanese-language version.

Chinatsu Akasaki / Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara

Lah Kara is a Force-sensitive Jedi-in-training and the daughter of Lah Zhima, the galaxy’s only known sabersmith. She continues her training under Juro and embarks on a quest to save her father alongside Juro’s small fellowship.

Tetsuo Kanao / Andrew Kishino as Margrave Juro

A strong Jedi Master and the Margrave of Hy Izlan, Juro works to rebuild the Jedi Order in an era where they have long faded into obscurity.

Hiromu Mineta / Masi Oka as Ethan

Ethan is a young Jedi who answered Juro’s call to help restore the Jedi Order in the original Star Wars: Visions short. In the new series, he returns as an ally to Kara and Juro.

Shinichiro Miki / Simu Liu as Lah Zhima

Lah Zhima is Kara’s father and the only known sabersmith in the galaxy, making him essential to the future of the Jedi. After he is captured by Jedi Hunters, Kara, Juro, and the fellow Jedi trainees set out on a mission to save him.

Young Mazino as General Nawaam

General Nawaam hides behind a mask and follows his own version of justice, putting him directly at odds with Kara and the new generation of Jedi. His Japanese voice actor has not yet been announced.

More familiar cast and characters return for the adventure too. Patrick Seitz / Hinata Tadokoro as Homen, JP Karliak / Cho as Gramps, and Neil Kaplan / Akio Otsuka as The Narrator.

New Cast & Characters

The galaxy is getting a few new voices. Feodor Chin joins the English cast as Gennoh, Chase Sui Wonders voices Tafflah, and Keone Young voices Kwana. Japanese voice actors have not yet been announced for these new characters.

Long after the Jedi have faded into legend, “The Ninth Jedi” follows Kara, the daughter of a sabersmith, as Margrave Juro’s plan to rebuild the Jedi Order pulls her into a dangerous mission. With dark forces closing in, Kara begins to discover her own connection to the Force. 

“The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” (Volume III, Episode 3)

Kara’s search is far from over. Jedi Hunters pursue her across the galaxy, and a chase separates her from Juro and leaves her stranded in space. There, she meets Teto, a mysterious service droid caring for an abandoned ship.
