There were a number of major title matches at WrestleMania 42. CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship, Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship, Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship, and Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Championship. We also had AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and a clash of behemoths with Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar.
What were the big storylines during WrestleMania 42?
CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns
This one is personal, and no one is trying to hide it. Reigns won the 2026 Royal Rumble, and got into an intense war of words with Punk. By the end of their standoff, Reigns told Punk he had always hated him and that he would challenge him on The Grandest Stage of Them All. That is more than enough to carry a WrestleMania main event.
Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan earned this title shot by winning the Royal Rumble, and choosing Vaquer as her opponent. Since then, the feud escalated quickly. Bad blood like this usually makes for an epic WrestleMania title showdown.
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
Rhodes and Orton share a storied history, having fought side by side in The Legacy and maintaining a close friendship throughout the years. The whole story hangs on one very simple idea: Orton only needs a second to hit an RKO and become a 15-time World Champion.
Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley
It’s a power clash for the WWE Women’s Championship. Cargill comes in as the reigning champion, with Ripley earning the title shot by winning the Elimination Chamber. It’s a matchup we’ve never seen before, and it looks huge on paper.
Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar
Has Brock Lesnar met his match? Lesnar called out WWE Superstars to his Open Challenge for WrestleMania 42, and Oba Femi answered. This is sure to be an epic collision that you’re not going to want to miss.
