Ambitious TV reporter Tim O'Hara (Jeff Daniels) stumbles on a Martian (Christopher Lloyd) who has just crashed on Earth. When Tim's efforts are constantly foiled by Uncle Martin's crazy antics, he decides to help the resourceful alien return home.
