During the last two years of her life, Princess Diana embarks on a final rite of passage: a secret love affair with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan.

December 1, 1995: Princess Diana of Wales and Dr. Hasnat Khan are introduced to one another by Donagh Toffolo, a friend of Diana, at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
Officially separated from Prince Charles since December 1992, Diana has since had several disappointing love affairs. Just while she is trying to find a meaning to her life, she falls in love with the Pakistani surgeon and manages to keep their relationship a secret - for a while.
Her divorce comes through in August 1996, and Diana wants to believe that a future is possible with this man, who she loves, flaws and all, and who is indifferent to the royal icon status she has held in the world's eyes for more than fifteen years.
