At the 1983 College World Series, the championship culminated in an unlikely

matchup between Rodger Clemens’ Texas Longhorns and the upstart Alabama Crimson Tide, a

team of overachievers that included the best hitter in college baseball: Dave Magadan. On their

way to their showdown with Texas, Alabama vanquished Barry Bonds’ Arizona State Sun Devils

and Barry Larkin’s Michigan Wolverines. Could Alabama beat Clemens and the Longhorns? At
