And then there were four. The best has been separated from the rest and now Sydney Kings, Adelaide 36ers, South East Melbourne Phoenix and Perth Wildcats will play for the NBL26 Championship. The Kings, under mastercoach Brian Goorjian, are shooting for their third title in five years. The 36ers will hope their superstar recruit Bryce Cotton can lead them to ultimate glory for the first time since 2002.

Championship glory would be an historic first for the Phoenix who joined the competition in 2019, while the Wildcats, with three titles to their name in the last decade, are gunning for championship No.10.

Four teams will contest the NBL26 Finals series. Sydney Kings finished the regular season on top of the ladder, with 24 wins and 9 losses, and won the minor premiership. Players to Watch

When Perth Wildcats megastar Bryce Cotton joined the Adelaide 36ers in the off-season it was one of the biggest moves in NBL history. The human highlights reel made an immediate impact for the 36ers and in February won the NBL’s Most Valuable Player award - known as the Andrew Gaze Trophy - for a sensational sixth time. Cotton will be the key for Adelaide if the 36ers are to end a 24-year drought and win their fifth title.

Matthew Delavedova has won and done it all in basketball from an Olympic medal with the Australian Boomers to an NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Last season, “Delly” was judged the Grand Final MVP as Melbourne United fell to Illawarra Hawks in a five-game epic. In the off-season, the 35-year-old guard became a King and will bring crucial experience in Sydney’s title quest.

Who won the NBL25 Finals?

The Illawarra Hawks broke a 24-year championship drought when they lifted the trophy in NBL25. The Hawks beat Melbourne United in front of a packed home crowd in Illawarra in the fifth and deciding game, winning the series 3-2. United’s Matthew Delavedova claimed the Larry Sengstock Medal for the Grand Finals’s Most Valuable Player but in a touching moment of sportsmanship gave the medal to Hawk Davo Hickey.

There’s been action-packed do-or-die basketball played before the play-offs have even begun. In the Seeding Qualifier game on March 4, the Phoenix overpowered the Wildcats to clinch third place.

In the Play-In Qualifier on March 5, Melbourne United took on recent rival Tasmania Jackjumpers. United won and kept their campaign alive while it was season over for the Jackjumpers. Seeing qualifier loser Perth then played Play-In Qualifier Melbourne in Perth on March 8 and the Wildcats were comfortable, 95-77, winners booking their ticket to the finals.  The Wildcats now face minor premier Sydney Kings in Semi-Finals Series 2. In Semi-Finals Series 1, the Adelaide 36ers take on South East Melbourne Phoenix.

The winners of the Semi-Finals series advance to the Championship Series which is a best-of-five game format.
