La que se avecina takes us to Mirador de Montepinar, a new residential complex located on the outskirts of a large city and from the moment the new tenants start arriving, the craziness begins. The floors are defective, the doorbells don't work, the walls are made of paper, the concierge Maxi has a more-than-dubious resume, and each apartment has been filled with a particular type of tenant. Among them are a chaotic family, some newlyweds, a Spanish "Bridget Jones", the "official bore" of the neighbourhood, two early retirees, an antisocial loner, an underachieving college graduate, a soap opera star, two squatters and a couple with children.
Some neighbours, such as Enrique Pastor and Antonio Recio, are in constant conflict in which their spouses, Araceli and Berta respectively, also involve themselves. Others, like Izaskun and Mari Tere make gossip their way of life. The first families to take up residence are the unlucky ones who suffer all this in their new “home sweet home.”
