For years, the kiosk has been Olga's life. She spends her days inside reading travel magazines and dreaming of distant places. One day, a chance occurrence turns her upside down - literally - and sets her off on an unexpected journey.

The Kiosk

Olga has run a small neighborhood kiosk for years. Her days follow a predictable routine: selling newspapers, sweets, and cigarettes to loyal customers. But her own life is less ordinary. Due to her love of sweets and the monotony of her daily existence, she has become so round that she can no longer fit through the door of her own kiosk. She is, quite literally, “stuck” in her shop.

To escape the confines of her small world, Olga retreats into the pages of travel magazines during her breaks. She dreams of distant countries, adventures, and a life beyond the walls of her kiosk. Yet these dreams remain unreachable — until an absurd incident literally propels her out of her familiar environment.

Told without words, The Kiosk is both humorous and contemplative, exploring the feeling of being trapped in routine and the courage needed to break free. Using a playful animation style that blends collage and watercolor techniques, Melece conveys a subtle but powerful message: sometimes it only takes a small push to take the first step toward freedom.
