In this documentary set in the world of Brazilian theatre, actor Reynaldo Gianecchini and his mentor, legendary director Zé Celso, meet in an apartment in São Paulo for a reading of Zé Celso’s adapted screenplay of Plato’s Phaedrus. The encounter is the first reunion between them in two decades, as the two severed their relationship after Gianecchini took a role in a soap opera in 1999.

"Fédro" is a documentary that chronicles the careers of actor Reynaldo Gianecchini and his mentor, legendary director José Celso Martinez Corrêa (Zé Celso), founder of Teatro Oficina Uzyna Uzona and who, in 1967, changed the way theatre is made in Brazil. Produced in June 2019, the actor and director meet in an apartment in downtown São Paulo after a 20-year separation; they are there to read Zé Celso’s adapted screenplay of Phaedrus, by Plato. Gianecchini, who harnessed his talent while performing in Zé Celso’s productions at Teatro Oficina, making his debut in the play Cacilda. But the two former allies would separate in 1999 when Gianecchin accepted a role on a popular soap opera. The former student and mentor find themselves discussing their memories and life experiences through the optics of Phaedrus, in what becomes a fresh opportunity to transform their past artistic energy to the present.
