Hans Reiser, a rural Catholic priest, takes over a troubled parish in Munich. He wants to bring new life to the small community, but his unconventional approaches are not met with universal enthusiasm. He receives some support from his superior, the Archbishop of Munich Georg Cardinal Brunnenmayr.
