Silvio Santos: Greater than Money
DETAILS
A documentary series that delves into the life and career of Senor Abravanel, the man who became one of the greatest communicators and entrepreneurs in the history of Brazil. Over the course of eight episodes, the work reveals the many facets of Silvio: the street vendor, the announcer, the presenter, the visionary businessman, the demanding boss, the reserved patriarch and the cultural phenomenon that spans generations.
The series traces a timeline that begins with his simple childhood in Rio de Janeiro, through his career as a street vendor and radio host, until his rise to become a talk show host and founder of SBT, one of the largest broadcasters in the country. With never-before-seen stories, rare archive footage and testimonies from family, friends, employees, artists and experts, the documentary builds a complete — and human — portrait of who Silvio Santos is.
Throughout the episodes, the audience revisits iconic milestones in his career, such as the creation of programs that became part of the history of Brazilian television (“Topa Tudo por Dinheiro”, “Porta da Hope”, “What’s the Music?” and many others), as well as behind the scenes at SBT, the challenges as a businessman, the controversies, the moments of crisis and also the achievements that shaped his empire.
More than a biography, the series reflects on Silvio’s impact on TV, popular culture and the construction of a unique communication model, based on charisma, direct interaction with the public and the ability to reinvent himself. At the same time, it also reveals the man behind the myth: a present father, a stubborn leader and someone who, even surrounded by millions, maintained his simple essence and his unique way of looking at life and business.
Is a journey through the history of Brazilian television, through the life of an icon and through everything that money will never buy: affection, memory and connection with the Brazilian people.
