Benvenuti in campagna

Gerry, a precariously employed university researcher, his wife Ilaria, a traffic warden constantly out in the chaos of the city streets, and their teenage son Giulio are at a turning point in their lives. Maybe it’s the cramped one-bedroom apartment they’re forced to live in, maybe it’s their libido sinking three meters underground, or maybe it’s the city slowly suffocating them with its gray tentacles, but the Fontana family has made a radical decision: they need to return to nature. Moving to the open countryside and dreaming of turning a run-down farmhouse into a modern agricultural business seems like the only choice that could restore some peace to the couple, helping them overcome urban anxiety and their uncertainty about the future. Unfortunately, there is one small problem: if there’s anything that’s the exact opposite of serenity, well, it’s nature, and they’re about to find that out. Through a series of misadventures, from a friendly millionaire neighbor playing at being a farmer, to young Giulio’s discovery of first love, to insect bites, botched drilling, and meager harvests, all their green dreams will wither away miserably.
